Coming into the 2024 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears had the best chance to make some game-changing moves, with the struggling franchise owning the No. 1 and No. 9 overall picks, which put the team in prime position to draft two of the best players available.

As expected, the Bears used the top pick in the draft on USC superstar quarterback Caleb Williams, marking the first time that Chicago could have a franchise player under center.

Although the Bears got their man at No. 1 overall, it was uncertain what they would do at No. 9, with a lot of talk about the team being open to trading the pick to move down with so many teams wanting to trade up.

If the team didn’t make a deal to send that second first-round pick elsewhere, the consensus was they’d bring in one of the top wide receivers in the draft, with Rome Odunze out of the University of Washington being the most likely candidate to be available at that spot.

Ultimately, the team decided to bring in Odunze and received a lot of high praise for making the move, with PFF calling the move one of the biggest “steals” in the first round.

Even though Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers were taken ahead of Odunze, many believe the former Huskies star could be the real deal and might quickly become Williams’ favorite target in a very talented receiving corps in Chicago.

Along with Odunze, the Bears also have DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and Cole Kmet to use in the passing game in 2024, which could end up being one of the best groups in the league.
