It’s no secret that the New England Patriots have struggled at quarterback since Tom Brady’s departure.
They drafted Mac Jones with the hope that he could be their franchise star, but to this point, that has not been the case.
As they look ahead to the 2024 season, the Patriots might be back at the drawing board at the position, hoping to find some answers to their problems.
Ron Rivera recently appeared on the NFL on ESPN, pointing to the Patriots drafting a quarterback from the 2023 class.
This year has several prospects who are viewed as elite.
In his mind, since the Patriots have the No. 3 overall pick, he believes that they should take a swing at one of these players, hoping they can become the team’s next star.
“You got an opportunity to draft one of the top three quarterbacks coming out and think you gotta do it,” Rivera said.

This organization has grown accustomed to winning over the years, something they haven’t done much under Jones.
With a new head coach, a new offensive coordinator, and a potential new quarterback, this team could surprise many people in 2024.
Rivera believes that this is a great path forward for the Patriots.
The AFC East could be up for grabs next year, especially if Aaron Rodgers isn’t fully healthy coming into the season for the New York Jets.
It could be an uphill climb, but with an updated scheme and a new player to breathe life into the organization, anything is possible.
Just ask the Houston Texans, who took a chance on C.J. Stroud with the No. 2 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Stroud led them to the playoffs in his rookie campaign, a model of success the Patriots could emulate to find the success they have been seeking.
