Earlier in the offseason, the NFL had some of its top-notch rookie quarterbacks have lunch with Tom Brady.
It’s hard to find a better source of inspiration than arguably the greatest quarterback ever, and the undisputed ultimate winner of all time.
Notably, that lunch may have had a big effect on one of the attendees.
Recently, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN talked with Houston Texans rookie C.J. Stroud about that moment and what it meant to him.
NEW: #Texans CJ Stroud’s lunch convo with Tom Brady furthered his desire.
“[Brady] was like, ‘I just never want to let my teammates down.’ I was like, ‘Man, that’s how I am.’”
Stroud took that advice & found numerous ways to win over his locker room. https://t.co/TKuozqw2If

Stroud talked about how Brady never wanting to let his teammates down really got to him, as he felt like they were very similar.
Stroud got off to an outstanding start to his career.
He was one game away from establishing a record by starting his career with six games without throwing an interception.
He’s led the Texans to a 3-3 record, which is far ahead of schedule in terms of what most people expected from DeMeco Ryans’ team.
The Texans don’t even have a solid offensive line or receiving corps, yet Stroud continues to find ways to make plays and stretch the field, just like he did at Ohio State.
Stroud drew criticism and mockery for his reportedly low score on some cognitive tests, but the Texans stood by their prospect and he’s responded in the best way possible.
Just like Brady showed in his playing days, there are some intangibles that simply cannot be measured or shown on tape, and Stroud is proving the doubters wrong one by one every time he drops back.
