After a disappointing end to their stint in the NBA playoffs last season, there was no telling what the future held for the Minnesota Timberwolves, as some believed that there could be some massive trades on the horizon involving either Karl-Anthony Towns or Rudy Gobert.
Ironically enough, the Timberwolves came into this 2023-24 NBA regular season firing on all cylinders, with the team sitting atop the Western Conference standings for the majority of the regular season.
The Timberwolves currently sport a record of 34-15, which has Anthony Edwards and company sitting slightly ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the West in the top spot.
With the Timberwolves taking the league by storm this season, it was expected that they’d have a few representatives in the NBA All-Star Game, with Edwards likely leading the way for Minnesota.
Even though Gobert is the favorite to win another NBA Defensive Player of the Year award, he was not named an All-Star along with Edwards and Towns, which sparked this reaction from the veteran center, via Dane Moore.
“When it comes to me, I didn’t even put that much expectation in it,” Gobert said. “Not the first time I’ve been taken for granted, disrespected about these things. I’ve been in this league for a long time, I know how it works.”
Rudy Gobert when asked about not being selected as an All Star, first, he said he was very happy to see KAT and Ant make. And then on himself not making it, he said:
“When it comes to me, I didn’t even put that much expectation in it. Not the first time I’ve been taken for…

In the 47 games Gobert has played thus far this season, he has averaged 13.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game while shooting 63.9% from the floor.
These are some solid numbers across the board for Gobert, which are definitely deserving of an All-Star nod, but he seems content with his two star teammates getting the call.
If Gobert, Towns, and Edwards can continue playing at a high level this season, the trio has a chance to make some noise in the NBA playoffs as a potential title contender in the West.
