Russell Westbrook Has Made Unfortunate NBA History

Russell Westbrook was recently traded from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Utah Jazz before being quickly released as he continues to chase down the ever-elusive NBA championship, which he reportedly hopes to do by signing with the Denver Nuggets soon.

It’s yet another new team for the former MVP, and a recent stat reminded fans just how uncommon it is to see an MVP bounce around as much as Russ has in recent years.

It’s also the second year in a row he was traded to the Utah Jazz and subsequently released, which is a funny coincidence and has to be some sort of record as well.

Russ has been traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Houston Rockets, then from the Rockets to the Washington Wizards, the Wizards to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Lakers to the Jazz, and now the Clippers to the Jazz.

Serving as a backup point guard for the Nuggets and replacing the role left behind by Reggie Jackson being traded to the Charlotte Hornets in free agency would be a solid fit for the former MVP.

Westbrook settled into a nice groove off the bench for the Clippers last season after years of struggling to adapt to that role, and it was clear he can still be an impactful player as a 35-year-old even if he isn’t the MVP-caliber guy he once was.

Hopefully, Denver doesn’t trade him anytime soon and add to this record.
