Miami Dolphins star Tua Tagovailoa took offense at some comments made by Ryan Clark, and he made sure to let it be known.

Tua — who’s often an easy-going and rather quiet guy — told Clark to get his name out of his mouth shortly after the retired DB made fun of the weight he’s added in the offseason.

“Let me tell you what he wasn’t doing: He wasn’t in the gym, I’ll bet you that,” Clark said. “He might spend a lot of time in the tattoo parlor. He was not at the dinner table eating what the nutritionist had advised. He looks ‘happy.’ He is thick.”

Tua claimed that he would obviously rather be lighter and slimmer, but there’s a process and a reason behind his bulking up, which is not to be disclosed to everybody.

That’s why the retired NFL player took to Twitter to apologize to Tua, stating that he was joking but it was clear that it didn’t come out that way because of how many Dolphins fans were offended by his comments.

When I decided to do TV I had 2 main priorities.

1. Respect all NFL players, coaches, executives and staff members.

2. Earn and keep the respect of those very same people.

Those priorities are important to me, and when I miss that mark, I have to hold myself accountable.… pic.twitter.com/YgZfcNPN8G

Clark claims that he wants to earn and keep the respect of every NFL player and knows he failed to live up to his own standards, adding that he never meant to question Tua’s work ethic or commitment to the game.

Tua continues to be a subject of controversy around the league, with some pundits not being sure about him as a starter in this league.

But regardless of how anybody might feel about him as a player, there’s no need to question his work ethic based solely on speculation and not knowing the entirety of the facts.

Still, props to Clark for apologizing and being accountable.
