The Chicago Bears made waves during the NFL Draft after drafting USC Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Caleb Williams at No. 1 overall and Washington All-American receiver Rome Odunze.

One of their other great draft picks came in the fourth round when they selected Ray Guy Award-winning punter Tory Taylor out of Iowa.

Bears GM Ryan Poles appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” Wednesday to chat about why the team selected a punter so early on.

“I love taking advantage of field position…I think he’s going to add to our team and make it uncomfortable and difficult for any team we’re going against,” Poles told the show.

This was truly one of the better moves in this year’s draft.

With special teams being a tremendous need for Chicago, they immediately added the biggest special teams difference-maker in the draft.

Taylor holds multiple FBS punting records, including most punting yards in a season (2023, 4,479 yards) and highest career punting average (46.3).

The three-time All-Big Ten performer and unanimous All-American is going to be well-worth the fourth-round pick.

Drafting Taylor in that round is similar to drafting the franchise’s new quarterback Caleb Williams in the first round.

Two of the best players at their position in the draft.

The native of Melbourne, Australia will be able to flip games upside down with his game-changing abilities, especially when the weather turns.

Bears fans know all too well how important special teams can certainly be.

Getting the best punter in Taylor was the right move by Poles and the Bears.
