Derek Carr was a staple of the Las Vegas Raiders roster for many years.

While he didn’t bring them much playoff success, he was generally well-liked within the organization and fanbase.

After a substantial tenure with the organization, he had to try something new.

He signed a four-year contract with the New Orleans Saints before the 2023 season, hoping to find better luck with a new team.

Carr did play well for the Saints, as they finished the year with a winning record but missed the playoffs.

There were a few questions from pundits around the league, wondering if 2023 was his ceiling with this organization.

His teammate, Tyrann Mathieu, doesn’t seem to think so.

As Mathieu recently told Jim Rome, “I don’t think we’ve seen the best of Derek yet.”

He believes Carr was getting his feet wet in New Orleans last year, and the best is yet to come for his time with the team.

Carr is a long-time NFL veteran, and he has seen a lot throughout his tenure in the league.

His experience could be invaluable to the Saints moving forward, especially since they have several young players on both sides of the ball.

One of those young players is wide receiver Chris Olave, someone Carr started to develop rapport with as the season went on.

If Olave and Carr can continue to have a strong connection, this offense might just take a giant leap forward, potentially helping them make it to the playoffs.
