For years, Alvin Kamara has been one of the best and most consistent New Orleans Saints, year in and year out.

Even at this point in his career when he might not be a workhorse anymore, he still makes their offense significantly better and should be able to take plenty of pressure off Derek Carr’s shoulders.

He’s reportedly looking to get a deal that will allow him to retire as a member of the organization.

That’s why even though he left minicamp after failing to strike a new contract, he still showed up to training camp to show some good faith.

With that in mind, Saints GM Mickey Loomis talked about how Kamara has now made it clear that he wants to be with the team.

Talking to SiriusXM NFL Radio, he claimed that the interest is mutual, and he was optimistic about being able to sort out the business side of this.

“He wants to be with the Saints… I want him to play for us, and I think eventually this will just work out.” @Saints GM Mickey Loomis on RB Alvin Kamara.

Kamara claimed that he showed up to training camp because ‘he wasn’t stupid’ and he wasn’t trying to lose money; he was trying to make money.

The 29-year-old is still under contract for the next couple of campaigns, but he could be a release candidate at the end of the season.

That’s why Kamara is looking to strike a deal now to prevent being cut by the team next offseason, and if they truly intend to keep him there, it should also be in their best interest to get something sorted out.
