The New Orleans Saints had high hopes of making a run at the NFL playoffs last season, as they had finally acquired a quarterback who might be able to hold his own in the post-Drew Brees era.
With the addition of veteran quarterback Derek Carr, formerly of the Las Vegas Raiders, the Saints were thought to be a force to be reckoned with in the NFC South, but no one anticipated that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be able to bounce back so quickly from Tom Brady’s retirement, especially with Baker Mayfield under center.
Fortunately for New Orleans, the team will have a shot at redemption during the upcoming 2024 NFL season with a stout defense, and Carr is looking to prove that he is the right man for the job in New Orleans.
However, the Saints are already dealing with an unforeseen and unfortunate issue, with backup quarterback Jake Haener having to undergo a procedure for skin cancer on his face this coming Monday, according to head coach Dennis Allen, via Matthew Paras of The Times-Picayune.

Fortunately for Haener, it looks like a simple procedure that won’t result in any missed time, but obviously, it is a concern for the young quarterback moving forward in his NFL career.
As for the team, New Orleans will try to put it all together during training camp in hopes of having a solid 2024 campaign, as they’ll be hoping to hold off the new-look Atlanta Falcons and reigning division champion Buccaneers this season.
