The New Orleans Saints have managed to get by without Michael Thomas.
However, the team is always obviously much better when their best wide receiver — at least on paper — is on the field.
That’s why the fans might be excited to know that he’s expected to be a full participant on Wednesday when their training camp opens, according to a report by Saints insider Nick Underhill.

It’s been quite a while since Thomas was fully healthy, but we cannot ignore the fact that he still holds the record for the most receptions in a single season.
Albeit he did most of his damage on short routes and slants, Thomas had arguably the most steady and reliable pair of hands in the league at some point, and he could still be a big contributor for Dennis Allen’s team going forward.
Obviously, the team will rely heavily on Chris Olave, who looked poised to have an elite career in the league from the very first snap he took in the NFL, but having Thomas as an insurance policy should give Derek Carr plenty of confidence ahead of his debut campaign with his new team.
Whether Thomas will be able to actually stay on the field throughout the course of the campaign remains to be seen, given his history of injuries and never-ending ailments.
But maybe he can still be among the league’s leaders in receptions and total yards, and he’ll have a huge chip on his shoulder to prove that he’s still an elite player.
