The New Orleans Saints are in the market to improve their roster before the season begins.

There are a couple of veteran players who have caught their eyes in free agency.

With the three-game suspension to Alvin Kamara, the Saints are looking for more depth at running back.

Also, they were in the market to find another veteran linebacker.

According to Dianna Russini, the Saints plan to sign both running back Kareem Hunt and linebacker Anthony Barr.

Both players still need to pass their physicals before the deals will become official.

The New Orleans Saints are expected to sign both Kareem Hunt and Anthony Barr, if both players pass their physicals and are in shape, per sources.

It was a surprise to see Hunt sit out in free agency for so long.

But the running back market has been nonexistent in this free agency.

Hunt is entering his age-28 season and there are some concerns that he has lost a step.

Yet, he could fill in as a third-down back for the Saints while Kamara is unavailable.

Also, the Saints added former Lions running back Jamaal Williams in free agency.

So, they will have a stout backfield full of experienced veterans.

As for Barr, he is nothing more than a depth piece on the Saints defense.

There is no guarantee he will even make their final 53-man roster.

Last season in Dallas, Barr looked like a shell of himself.

He is a part-time player at best and should not be counted on to start games.

Overall, you cannot blame the Saints for taking some swings on a few vets.

These are low-risk signings that could pay dividends during the regular season.
