On Tuesday, the Miami Marlins officially ended the Minnesota Twins’ run of consecutive victories.
They had just the man for the job on the mound.
Right-hander Sandy Alcantara, the reigning National League Cy Young, took the mound for his second start of the season and delivered a complete-game shutout as the Marlins beat the Twins by a final score of 1-0.
The right-hander allowed just three hits and struck out five batters while only walking one.
And with the shutout, Alcantara joined an elite list of Marlins starters.
He threw his 10th career complete game, which has him in fifth all-time in Marlins history for that category.

Also on the list are Dontrelle Willis, A.J. Burnett, Kevin Brown, and Livan Hernandez.
Willis has 15 of them, while Burnett has 14, and Brown and Hernandez are tied with 11.
Alcantara is quickly becoming one of the best starting pitchers in Marlins history.
He lowered his ERA to 1.84 with his dominance on Tuesday.
Another interesting note, as seen in the tweet is that this is Alcantara’s seventh complete game in the past two seasons.
The reigning Cy Young is continuing to improve and show why he may be the game’s next top ace.
But he is quickly rising through the ranks of elite Marlins starters and is in some elite company with some of the greatest pitchers in team history, some of whom were part of their World Series squads in 1997 and 2003.
The win improved the Marlins to 2-4 on the season.
They’ll look for a series win on Wednesday.
