During the 2022 NFL season, the New York Giants were able to turn things around for the first time in the post-Eli Manning era, with the storied franchise finally showing some promise, primarily due to the arrival of head coach Brian Daboll.
With Daboll bringing in a winning culture and a new attitude, the Giants began to thrive last season, with some players having the best seasons of their careers and the team clinching a playoff spot in the NFC.
Along with getting into the NFL playoffs, the Giants pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the postseason by getting the best of the Minnesota Vikings.
One player who had a great year in 2022 on the Giants roster was veteran running back Saquon Barkley, who was coming off two forgettable seasons in which he played in a total of 15 games.
As a result of his stellar season last year, Barkley was hoping to ink a lucrative long-term deal, much like other star running backs such as Josh Jacobs and Tony Pollard, but the team refused, meaning the star back had to settle for a one-year deal.
Now Barkley feels as though he has to prove himself once again in 2023, and he seems prepared for the challenge, via theScore.

It seems as though Barkley has the right mindset heading into the 2023 campaign, as he knows he needs to provide some consistency in terms of producing while also being healthy to earn that long-term contract he’s looking for.
Only time will tell if Barkley get that deal after this season or if this could be his last year in New York.
