Tuesday was a special day for MLB.com reporter and statistical analyst Sarah Langs.

Over the past year, Langs has been dealing with ALS, the same disease that New York Yankees legend Lou Gehrig ultimately passed away from.

Langs was this year’s “HOPE Week” honoree at Yankee Stadium for the 84th anniversary of Gehrig’s “luckiest man” speech.

She was also surprised with a shirt signed by the entire Yankees roster, as well as an appearance by her parents, who tossed the ceremonial first pitch before their game against the Baltimore Orioles.

On Twitter, Langs expressed her gratitude towards the Yankees organization for giving her such a special and memorable day.

I will never be able to find the proper words to thank the Yankees for this incredible day! Thanks so much to EVERYONE involved, especially Jason Zillo, Kaitlyn Brennan, Aaron Boone & Gerrit Cole

Baseball is the best because its people are the best so beyond grateful! https://t.co/KAD1oSC4Jb

ALS is a disease that has affected the baseball world for years.

Five years ago, the mother of then-Oakland Athletics outfielder Stephen Piscotty passed away after a long battle with ALS.

Langs was diagnosed with the disease last year.

However, despite the illness, Langs has been a source of hope and resilience as society continues to search for a cure for this terrible disease.

The baseball world has rallied around Langs since her diagnosis.

But even in the face of all this adversity, Langs has remained positive and focused all her efforts on raising awareness for ALS in hopes of a cure being discovered.

Langs is one of the brightest and most well-respected baseball analysts.

Though the disease has greatly affected her, she continues to be a source of inspiration in these trying times.

And on Tuesday, she got the chance to enjoy a truly special day at Yankee Stadium.
