The New York Jets have a generational talent in their ranks.
Sauce Gardner looks poised to be the best cornerback of his generation, and he’s only been around the league for one season.
That’s why even he would rather people pump the brakes on him and all the expectations.
When a post featuring him alongside Champ Bailey and Richard Sherman with the premise “start, bench, cut” went viral, Gardner took to Twitter to explain that it made no sense to put him alongside those two legends yet, stating that the only logical answer would be to cut him.

That’s as humble as it is logical.
Gardner’s career got off to a historic pace, being a frontrunner for the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year award while running with Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.
His numbers were remarkable, and the eye test made him look even more dominant.
But maybe we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves just yet, as he’s only been around for one year.
Hopefully, Gardner won’t suffer any career-altering injuries, off-field incidents, or whatnot, so he can fulfill his potential and be one of the best players of all time.
Still, anything can happen in this league, and countless things could go wrong for him and the Jets.
Also, it’s nice to see that Gardner knows he hasn’t accomplished anything in the league just yet, as that means he’ll continue to stay hungry and put in a lot of work to live up to the expectations.
