It’s the dawn of a new era for the Seattle Seahawks.

With Pete Carroll no longer calling the shots, it’ll be up to a new coaching staff to take this once-great team back to the mountaintop.

Needless to say, that will be easier said than done, especially with the San Francisco 49ers also in their division.

However, Bucky Brooks of NFL.com seems to be quite confident in their ability to get the job done, at least on offense, calling new OC Ryan Grubb the league’s ‘next great innovator.’

Brooks called Grubb an ‘offensive wizard’ and pointed out how he combined vertical and horizontal passing concepts, pre-snap motions, and different formations to open up the field for potential big-play opportunities:

“The offensive wizard utilizes a mix of vertical and horizontal passing concepts from condensed formations, stacked and bunched alignments, and pre-snap motion to create easy completions and big-play opportunities,” he wrote.

Needless to say, that’s encouraging for a team that features a wide receiver combination of DK Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Tyler Lockett, not to mention a quarterback who’s always looking to sling the football down the field, such as Geno Smith.

The Seahawks will look to make the most of their speedsters and explosive players, which wasn’t the case often last season after Smith’s breakout campaign.

Moreover, with opposing teams looking to keep their playmakers in check, there should also be plenty of room for their running back tandem of Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet.

Mike Macdonald will look to keep the Seahawks’ defensive identity from the Pete Carroll days, but contrary to popular belief, their offense might be what actually sets them apart from the rest of the pack in 2024.
