The 2024 NFL Draft is talked about a lot in league circles, mainly due to the sheer number of quarterbacks taken in the first round.
There were six quarterbacks selected in the first 12 picks of the draft, an indication that many teams were looking for a change of pace at the position.
At one point, it seemed like the Seattle Seahawks would be one of those teams, but at the end of the day, they decided to move forward with Geno Smith as their primary starter.
They decided to go a different direction in the first round, taking Byron Murphy II, a highly touted defensive tackle.
Murphy is already turning heads at training camp, and his teammate, Johnathan Hankins, had a bold claim in an interview shared by reporter John Boyle.
Hankins said, “I think he’ll be rookie of the year, to tell you the truth.”

This might be a bold statement at this time in the offseason, but Murphy has had plenty of time to showcase his abilities to his teammates.
He had a great career at the University of Texas, and is now ready to light it up at the highest level.
It will be interesting to see how his game shifts to the NFL, as it can sometimes take players a season, if not more, to get on the right track.
However, the Seahawks need him to be ready in Week 1 if at all possible, hoping to get back on the right track after missing the playoffs last season.
