After they went 9-8 and unexpectedly made the playoffs last season, the Seattle Seahawks had some tangible optimism heading into this new NFL season.
But they got dismantled by the Los Angeles Rams, a team most expect to be terrible, in Week 1, 30-13, and now there is just a bit of concern.
Starting tackles Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas left the game due to injuries, which led to the team signing left tackle Jason Peters, who is 41 years of age, per Ari Meirov.

Peters came into the league undrafted in the 2004 season as a member of the Buffalo Bills, and he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles prior to the 2009 campaign.
There, he played on their 2017 Super Bowl championship team, even though he suffered a season-ending knee injury in late October of that season.
Peters has been named to the Pro Bowl nine times and the All-Pro First-Team twice, and he spent last season with the Dallas Cowboys, where he appeared in 10 games and was in the starting lineup for one of them.
On Sunday, the Seahawks’ offensive line wasn’t their only bone of contention.
Quarterback Geno Smith, who had an excellent 2022 season, came back to Earth and completed just 16 of 26 passes, and their offense as a whole fell apart in the second half.
They had forged a 13-7 halftime lead, but they did not score a single point afterward, and for the game, they mustered only 180 total yards of offense.
But it was only Week 1, and it doesn’t make much sense to overreact after just one game.
