After their Super Bowl victory in 2021, the Los Angeles Rams took a step back, finishing the 2022 campaign with a 5-12 record.
There were many factors to this decline in production, but the factor with the largest impact was the injuries sustained across the team.
Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp, two of the team’s best offensive contributors, each suffered season-ending injuries.
After Stafford’s injury, many believed that his playing days were numbered and that he would never be able to return to form.
However, Sean McVay has recently commented on Stafford’s status for 2023, providing a positive update.
Regarding Stafford, “He’s been able to kind of start his rhythm and routine a bit earlier than previous years,” said McVay.

“[Stafford] is motivated to come back and respond…he’s got a good look in his eye and I’m glad he’s leading the way for us.”

In Kevin Patra’s article, he speaks highly of Stafford’s ability to play well under duress.
When Stafford has needed to, he has proven that he thrives under pressure, and can make some difficult throws in the process.
When referencing some of Stafford’s best throws, Patra notes that his time in Detroit highlighted his abilities as a quarterback, and will work to continue his brilliance during the 2023 season as well.
The Rams are one of the league’s oldest teams, as the average age of players on their roster is 25 years, 10 months, and 14 days.
While youth is certainly necessary to grow an organization for the future, the experience on the Rams’ roster is certainly worth noting.
Will the Rams be able to turn their season around after their 5-12 record in 2023?
This is largely dependent on the health of both Stafford and Kupp.
