The Los Angeles Rams haven’t made noise in the NFL Draft in years, but they made some headlines by selecting National Champion running back Blake Corum out of Michigan with the 83rd pick in the third round.
Head coach Sean McVay will now have another interesting weapon to rely on, and he said Corum reminds him of a very familiar running back.
Speaking about the draft pick in his press conference, McVay said about Corum, “one of the things that jumped off is there’s a lot of traits that reminded me of Kyren Williams.”

McVay added “I think they’ve gotta earn trust,” when asked what a running back has to do to get on the field.
Corum is seasoned, so he shouldn’t have much of a problem earning trust after the college career he just had.
It’s interesting to hear a coach compare his new running back to his current starter, and it makes you wonder how Corum and Williams will coexist and complement one another if McVay sees so many similarities between them.
Williams broke out last year and ran for 1,144 yards and 12 touchdowns in just 12 games while also catching 32 passes for 206 yards and another three touchdowns.
Corum ran for 1,245 yards and 27 touchdowns en route to the National Championship last season after putting up 1,463 yards and 18 touchdowns the year before.
He has the ability to be a bell-cow running back, but will have to adjust to playing alongside Williams and finding other ways to contribute.
Corum didn’t contribute much in the passing game, but Williams hasn’t stayed healthy for a full season yet.
It’ll be interesting to see how these two coexist.
