The NFL’s roster cut day is just around the corner.

Teams have been evaluating the players on their roster throughout the preseason and training camp, trying to narrow down their decisions ahead of the deadline.

Making these cuts isn’t something coaches take lightly, as players have worked their entire lives to make it in this league.

The Denver Broncos, similar to other teams throughout the league, have to solidify their quarterback room.

Box Nix was recently named the starter, beating out Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham.

With this in mind, some people thought that, after a starter was named, the Broncos would only roster two QBs.

However, Sean Payton sees it differently, as he recently told reporters.

According to Broncos reporter Mike Klis, Payton said, “I feel comfortable with those three quarterbacks. I think I told you already I see the three of them making it.”

Payton’s comments indicate that there will be room on the roster for all three quarterbacks.

Some teams only roster a starter and a backup, while others, like the Broncos, look to roster three.

There isn’t a perfect formula for this, especially if the starter plays for the entire year without getting hurt or replaced due to performance issues.

But, as the San Francisco 49ers experienced in the 2022 season, anything can happen in this league.

In their situation, Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo both fell to injuries, leaving them to rely on their third-stringer, Brock Purdy.

Purdy has turned out surprisingly well for them, but his situation was a true anomaly.

It will be interesting to see how the Broncos fare this season with their quarterback situation in mind.
