The Denver Broncos will have a lot of eyes watching their quarterback competition in training camp.
The team drafted Oregon quarterback Bo Nix in the first round of April’s NFL Draft, and they also traded with the New York Jets for former first-round quarterback Zach Wilson.
Veteran backup Jarrett Stidham is also on the roster.
Head coach Sean Payton recently spoke in front of the Denver media about the plan for the position ahead of training camp.
“We’ll mix it up…As we get started, we’ll keep you posted. Eventually, we’ll settle into the routine we want,” Payton said.

Naturally, coaches don’t love to give the media a ton of information regarding their team’s future plans, but this has the look of a quarterback competition at Mile High because all three quarterbacks are unproven at the NFL level.
Bo Nix, despite being an accomplished college quarterback, is still a rookie and is now in a division with Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert.
Zach Wilson could not make it work with the Jets, even with the guidance of Aaron Rodgers (23-25 TD-INT ratio).
Jarrett Stidham is the most experienced in terms of years in the NFL (entering his sixth career season) but has started just four career games.
Nix feels like the quarterback of the future, but the jury is out on what Denver is going to do in the present.
It is going to have to be up to Sean Payton to pull a rabbit out of a hat and coach these players up to the best of his ability as he did with Drew Brees in New Orleans.
