The Denver Broncos hope the 2024 season produces better results than their 2023 campaign.

Despite adding Sean Payton as their head coach last year, the Broncos ended the season with an 8-9 record, missing the playoffs.

Russell Wilson didn’t end up providing the type of impact they expected from the former MVP candidate, and they cut ties with him in the offseason.

Thankfully, Bo Nix has looked great thus far and is shaping up to be under center for the foreseeable future.

Nix isn’t the only young player to perform well in this offense.

Payton recently gave high praise to receiver Brandon Johnson, who played exceptionally well in their final preseason game.

As Payton said via reporter Zac Stevens, “I thought he did a great job. He made some big plays. He is a big target. He is a great worker. He is one of those guys, it was great to see him have some opportunities.”

Sean Payton was encouraged with Brandon Johnson’s impressive game, including his tremendous touchdown catch.

Johnson’s most impressive play of this game was a 46-yard touchdown reception from Zach Wilson.

It was unclear if Johnson was going to make the 53-man roster before this final game, but he’s certainly put Payton in a difficult spot.

The Broncos’ receiver depth chart is relatively murky this year, as nobody presents as a clear WR1.

There should be ample opportunities for players like Johnson to make a name for themselves on the roster, especially after performing well in the preseason.

With any luck, the Broncos can turn a corner in 2024 and start to make headway on teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers in their division.
