Houston Texans fans sure went to bed with big smiles on their faces.

They got two of the three best players in the NFL Draft, adding C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr. to their roster.

The Texans had to trade up to land the latter, but they had enough draft capital to do so from the Deshaun Watson trade last season.

That’s why Shannon Sharpe gave them a “solid A” for their job in the first round, citing that they got two stars in their biggest areas of need.

Sharpe also lauded newly-appointed head coach DeMeco Ryans for how he’s putting the team together.

.@ShannonSharpe shares why he likes the Texans NFL Draft Day moves:

“You have to have a QB that can compete with Trevor Lawrence and someone that can put his butt on the ground. They got both, I grade them a solid A.” pic.twitter.com/C2wFT34Bk8

Sharpe praised Stroud’s mobility and claimed that he surprised him with his ability to make plays outside of the pocket against Georgia, which was something he hadn’t seen from him before.

Moreover, he praised the Texans for going with Anderson, calling him a high-character guy while citing that you cannot have any bad apples on your team when trying to develop a culture, most likely alluding to another draft prospect, Jalen Carter.

Ryans knows Alabama head coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide pedigree as a former Bama player himself, so you better believe he did more than his due diligence on Anderson.

Sharpe also praised the Texans for landing a guy who can put a lot of pressure on other quarterbacks in the division like Trevor Lawrence and Anthony Richardson.

The Texans sure needed a home run in the first round of the draft, and it seems like they hit a grand slam instead.
