Fans of the Phoenix Suns enjoyed a big sigh of relief on Tuesday night as their team evened their series against the Los Angeles Clippers, 1-1.

Two of the team’s stars, Devin Booker and Kevin Durant, combined for 63 points in the 123-109 victory.

However, Shannon Sharpe said that it was a trio of other players that was the real reason the Suns took home the W.

“As sensational as Devin Booker was, it was the other guys who won the game: Craig, Ayton, and Chris Paul,” Sharpe said on Undisputed.

Sharpe has a good point.

Torrey Craig was terrific with his 17 points, Deandre Ayton was dominant with 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Chris Paul cleaned up well with 16 points and 8 assists.

As Sharpe mentioned, it was these role players who allowed the team to win.

Both the Suns and the Clippers have several high-profile players, such as Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook, Durant, and Booker.

Sharpe said that those athletes essentially cancel each other out and then it falls on other stars, like Craig, Ayton, and Paul, to pick up the slack and push the team across the finish line.

It needs to be a full team effort if the Suns wish to succeed in this opening round and the rest of the playoffs.

There is no doubt that Durant and Booker are the biggest stars on the roster but the team will only make the Finals if they can count on everyone else too.

The postseason is not the time when one or two-man teams can win.

The Suns will now head to Los Angeles where they hope to build upon the success they found on Tuesday night.

Once again, they are planning to get the whole team involved.
