Some people might not remember because it feels like it happened years ago, but the Denver Nuggets are actually in the NBA Finals.
Mike Malone’s team took care of business and punched their ticket to this stage for the first time in franchise history after completing a four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers.
And now that they’ve had over a week to get some rest and prepare to host the Miami Heat, Shannon Sharpe has no doubt in his mind that they’re going to win their very first NBA championship.

Sharpe pointed out the fact that the Nuggets are the deeper team with Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., Aaron Gordon, and obviously Nikola Jokic.
They’re well rested, will be at home, and will get a lesser Heat team that will put up a big fight, but might not have enough left in the tank to deal with them.
Sharpe added that few people could argue that Jokic is the best player in the game right now, reminding his viewers that he’s actually averaged a 30-point triple-double throughout the course of the playoffs.
He thinks Bam Adebayo will be in for a tough time against Jokic, citing he’s going to be a major step up in challenge after going against the likes of Al Horford and Robert Williams III.
All things considered, it’s hard to argue with any of these arguments, and the Nuggets should be primed to win their very first ring.
But this Heat team has made it further than everybody expected, and anything can happen in a seven-game series.
