The pressure on Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics was strong all season, but it’s only grown recently.
Now that the Celtics are in the Eastern Conference Finals, expectations for the team are even higher and the margin for error is much smaller.
On Tuesday’s “First Take,” Shannon Sharpe said that Tatum has a lot of questions to answer in the Eastern Conference Finals and beyond.
He said that now is the time for Tatum to prove what he is capable of and make fans forget some painful moments from the past.

Sharpe said that Tatum has to respond to past playoff appearances that didn’t result in wins.
He referenced the Celtics’ Finals run against the Golden State Warriors and their appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals last year against the Miami Heat.
During both of those series, the Celtics weren’t able to overpower their opponents and there were criticisms of Tatum’s output on the court.
Sharpe said that there have been concerns about Tatum recently, including during the team’s recent series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Some people said that he wasn’t efficient enough and that he wasn’t providing his team with enough leadership.
Of course, they ended up winning that series but now even more attention is being paid to Tatum.
At this point, anything short of complete success in the Finals will be seen as a massive disappointment to the Celtics fanbase.
If the team is going to claim their 18th title, they will need Tatum to play like the All-Star he is.
Winning will silence all critics but losing will only increase the number of questions around Tatum.
