After one of the wildest, most intense, and competitive NBA seasons in history, the Oklahoma City Thunder reign supreme over the rest of the Western Conference.
They are the top seed in their conference, surpassing other squads like the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets.
But are they really a strong team?
On Tuesday’s episode of “First Take,” Shannon Sharpe claimed that the Thunder are the “weakest” number one seed “in a very long time.”
He claimed that there is no way the Thunder are better than the Nuggets, although his co-host Brian Windhorst pushed back on that claim.
Windhorst said that the entire conference is better than it has been in years and the fact that the Thunder have climbed to the top spot means something.
“This is the weakest No. 1 seed that we’ve seen in a very long time.”

The Thunder have been questioned all season long.
At first, some people didn’t think they had what it took to be a strong team all season long.
Now, people are saying they are too young and inexperienced to push their way through the playoffs.
Windhorst states that the Thunder might not be as good as the 2017 Golden State Warriors but he does think they are something special and anyone questioning their greatness may end up regretting it.
There has never been a younger top seed in the NBA and that means that this Thunder team has a lot to prove.
But they have shown all season long that they are ready and eager to prove it, no matter what people are saying.
They have made it this far but the hard work is just beginning for Oklahoma City.
Now they have to patiently wait, watch the Play-In Tournament, and make plans about how to beat the eighth seed in the opening round.
