The relationship between Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless became strained a few months ago, resulting in the former NFL star ultimately leaving FOX Sports and “Undisputed” to join forces with ESPN and Stephen A. Smith.
Although Sharpe took his time and weighed his options about where he’d be working next, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that he’d team up with Smith and be a direct competitor to “Undisputed.”
With Sharpe already having some success while co-hosting “First Take” with Smith, the 55-year-old reflected on his time with Bayless and talked about their relationship and how it was more of a working relationship than a friendship.
Sharpe said the following about his time with Bayless and how things were over the seven years of working together for FOX Sports, via Stephen A. Smith’s Twitter account.

Now that the two have officially parted ways, with Sharpe continuing his career as an analyst with ESPN, it doesn’t appear that there was much love lost between the two sides, as they were more like competitors.
Sharpe paints a picture like the two were adversaries rather than buddies talking sports on a daily basis, as Bayless clearly wanted to get the best of his co-host on a daily basis rather than become friends and with a great working relationship.
As for Smith and Sharpe, it seems the two have already gotten off on the right foot and seem to be friends, which is a direct contrast but appears to be working.
