San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama has been the biggest sensation since the NBA Draft, and rightfully so.
He’s got a unique combination of skills and size, and he can do things no other player in the NBA can, or at least that’s how most scouts feel about him.
However, that’s not the case with Shaquille O’Neal.
Recently, in his latest appearance on NBA on TNT, the legendary big man stated that Phoenix Suns’ Bol Bol can do the same things that Wembanyama does, and he stated that he’s going to ‘stand on what he said’ (via Legion Hoops).
Shaq:
“Y’all act like you never seen a guy like [Victor Wembanyama] before. Yes you have. His name is Bol Bol. And I stand on what I said.”

This is far from surprising, as Bol and Shaq’s son Shareef go a long way back, so he’s watched him play for years and knows what he’s capable of.
Notably, former NBA star Tim Hardaway Sr. said something similar about Bol and Wembanyama, going as far as to say that Bol was a ‘better physical prospect’ than his French colleague.
Truth be told, Bol’s talents have never been doubted.
Everybody knows he can knock down threes, swat some shots, and even play make.
Then again, either because of injuries or undisclosed reasons, he’s found a hard time finding minutes.
Also, to be fair, Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren is also a very similar player to Wembanyama, and he’s got off to a great start to his NBA career.
At the end of the day, there’s no need to compare players, at least not so early in their careers, but the game is changing, and it’s an exciting era.
