The 2023-24 NBA regular season is just about over, with the majority of the teams in the league playing out the last games on their schedule with anticipation of heading into the Play-In Tournament, NBA playoffs, or seeing their campaign come to an end altogether.
One team that is gearing up for what could be a deep run in the upcoming postseason is the Boston Celtics, who have dominated the competition all season long after making some major moves in the offseason to bring in veterans Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday.
With Porzingis and Holiday turning out to be game-changers for the Celtics, Boston has been sitting atop the Eastern Conference standings throughout the season, with all indications being that this team is in contention for being the best squad in the league and perhaps having the best chance of beating the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals.
Even though the Celtics have done some incredible things this season, winning over 60 games and crushing the competition in the East, not everyone is sold that this team is as good as it seems on paper.
Hall of Famer and former Los Angeles Lakers superstar Shaquille O’Neal isn’t buying all the hype around the Celtics right now, as he believes they are the most overrated team in the NBA, as he said on “The Big Podcast with Shaq,” via NBACentral.
“Overrated? Boston,” O’Neal said. “You got to show me. I’ve been in this league and around the league for a long time. I’ve seen a lot of guys that have had a good regular season, but they don’t win championships.”

O’Neal seems pretty adamant about his stance on the Celtics, and he might not be wrong, as the competition in the East has been the weakest we’ve seen in quite some time, with Boston’s biggest threat recently losing their superstar in Giannis Antetokounmpo to a calf strain.
Only time will tell whether the Celtics are the real deal, but O’Neal isn’t buying it until Boston proves its worth.
