During his iconic NBA career, Shaquille O’Neal performed with many outstanding point guards and got close to some of the best players of all time.
But if he had to name one player as the best point guard of all time, O’Neal knows who he would choose.
According to his podcast (via @30problemz on Twitter), the basketball legend said that Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors is the best point guard to ever play the game.
While he admitted that Curry isn’t a traditional point guard, he said that the game has evolved and Curry is the definition of what this position should be.

While some people might say that Curry isn’t the most spot-on traditional guard ever, many others will agree with O’Neal and say that the game has changed over the years and Curry fits the bill.
No matter what you want to call him, Curry is a player unlike any other.
He’s clearly a future Hall of Famer and, more importantly, he transformed how people view and play basketball.
For example, the league places a much heavier emphasis on three-point shots because of Curry.
Additionally, he has done so much and achieved great things despite being smaller than his NBA peers.
It’s rare to see a player alter an entire sport in the way that Curry has.
His greatness can’t be questioned, nor can his four championships.
In the long history of the NBA, there have been a number of amazing point guards who have led their teams to terrific success.
But few have had the impact of Curry and O’Neal sees that.
