Because he is one of the biggest names in NBA history, everything Shaquille O’Neal says gets noticed by others.
The rest of the league and the media pick up on each post and statement from the former champion.
O’Neal recently turned heads when he reposted a meme disparaging Rudy Gobert, according to NBA Central.
The meme featured Gobert working at Walmart with a caption that said, “Rudy Gobert if he wasn’t 7’1″.”
O’Neal’s reposting had a lot of people talking and he’s now defending himself.

Speaking on “The Big Podcast,” O’Neal said he usually posts to get people talking and laughing, to inspire others, or to sell products.
His post featuring Gobert wasn’t meant to be cruel to the Minnesota Timberwolves star.
Instead, it was a light-hearted moment from the big man.

Regardless of what O’Neal intended, his social media activity has definitely upset some Gobert fans, who feel that it was insensitive and just inaccurate.
Gobert has received his fair share of criticism for his work with the Timberwolves, with some fans saying that he isn’t doing enough.
This post suggests that Gobert isn’t nearly as good as he should be and is not worthy of being considered one of the best big men in the league.
With that being said, Gobert recently won his latest Defensive Player of the Year award and helped the Timberwolves go far in the playoffs last season.
No matter what O’Neal and others say about him, he is a major presence in the NBA.
The response that O’Neal earned because of this post might make him think twice before he does something like this again.
