When it comes to doing business, Shaquille O’Neal has proven to be one of the savviest and most intelligent people in NBA history.
However, no one’s perfect, and it seems like the legendary big man wasn’t as sharp when it came to telling apart fake fighting from real fighting.
In the latest edition of his podcast, O’Neal admitted that it wasn’t until he was 21 years old and living his best life that he realized that wrestling was fake.

O’Neal told the story of him hosting Hulk Hogan at his home and then realizing that one of his enemies was also going to be in attendance.
He told his cousin that he was scared to death that they might tear their house apart.
Then, the young O’Neal was shocked to see that it was all an act.
They were all there shaking hands, sharing drinks, talking to their wives, and smoking cigars.
Truth be told, it’s hard to think that it took that for a grown man to realize that all those storylines and scripted fights were fake.
Perhaps Shaq was just too caught up in his preparation as a basketball player to tell.
Shaq would’ve also been an elite wrestler.
He’s got a feel for theatrics and is an absolute unit of a human being.
But with his competitive nature, chances are he would’ve refused to play ball and go along with whatever scriptwriters had in line for him, even if there was a big chunk of money on the table.
