Shaq Says 1 NBA City Is Built On Hype

The New York Knicks were one of the biggest winners of the offseason.

Trading for Mikal Bridges came at a steep price, but it could end up having a massive impact on them for years to come.

They also managed to re-sign OG Anunoby, all while Jalen Brunson agreed to take a massive pay cut to sign a team-friendly contract extension.

The Knicks will also get Julius Randle back on the floor next season, and even with Paul George arriving in Philadelphia to join the Sixers, they still pose a big threat to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference.

Nevertheless, Shaquille O’Neal still isn’t sold on them.

In the latest edition of The Big Podcast, the four-time NBA champion claimed that New York City was built on hype.

The Knicks haven’t convinced Shaq that they can win a championship.

He thinks that New Yorkers can hype everything and anybody up, but that doesn’t mean they’re a legitimate championship contender.

So, as much as he loves Jalen Brunson’s game, and even though he admitted he was wrong about him, he still doesn’t think the Nova Knicks are a championship-caliber team right now.

Tom Thibodeau isn’t particularly known for boasting a long rotation, but for the first time in quite a while, they have plenty of depth and several difference-makers on the team.

Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo are very good role players, and if they manage to stay healthy and avoid injuries, this team could be a strong player in the Eastern Conference not only next season but for years to come.
