The Boston Celtics are coming off their first NBA Finals win since 2008.

Many fans had wondered when the team was going to get over the hump, considering that they had made several strong playoff pushes in recent years, but were unable to finish the job.

They found the keys to success this year, and were able to, for the most part, dominate their competition on the way to the title.

While the Celtics won, and nobody can take that from them, they have faced criticism from several members of the media, who have indicated that their road wasn’t as difficult as playoff teams in past years.

Take Shaquille O’Neal, for instance.

In a recent appearance on “The Big Podcast” shared via Celtics on CLNS on Twitter, O’Neal said, “Boston had it easy… Their road was too easy.”

O’Neal is under the impression that, compared to teams in recent seasons, the Celtics had a much easier path to winning a championship.

Their competition in the Eastern Conference was largely banged up, which is what analysts like O’Neal have pointed out.

If the teams they played leading up to, and in the Finals were healthier, there’s no telling what would have happened to the Celtics this year.

Of course, hindsight is 20/20, and fans will never know how things would have panned out, had the injuries not been as prolific.

It will be interesting to see if the Celtics can repeat as champions next year, which could certainly silence their doubters.
