The Indianapolis Colts parted ways with Shaquille Leonard in perhaps one of the most unexpected moves of the year.
Leonard is one of the best linebackers in the game, and while he might not be in his physical prime anymore, he’s still more than capable of giving contending teams a major boost.
With that in mind, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed that the team has reached out to his camp and would love to get him to Arlington.
Nonetheless, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Cowboys are going to face some steep competition for his services, as he’s also expected to meet with the Philadelphia Eagles later in the week.

The Cowboys cannot afford that to happen.
On top of not having Leighton Vander Esch on the field, they just can’t allow their divisional rival — and the strongest powerhouse in the NFC — to get even stronger.
Having Leonard there would most likely allow Dan Quinn to deploy Micah Parsons on the edge more often, as he’s been picking up most of the slack at linebacker since Vander Esch fell with a neck injury.
Leonard is a well-known and well-respected veteran who could single-handedly uplift any defensive unit in the league.
The Eagles already have plenty of depth at every single position, and they’d give him a better shot at winning the Super Bowl this season.
But if he likes a challenge, leading the Cowboys to their first Lombardi trophy in almost three decades should be quite appealing to him.
