Shedeur Sanders’ stock rose drastically last season as the Colorado quarterback and his father/head coach Deion Sanders took the college football world by storm and became one of the biggest storylines in the sport despite only winning four games.

Despite the poor record, Sanders put up huge numbers and will be in the mix for the Heisman Trophy this season if the team’s results improve, and he said he believes his style is similar to that of one veteran NFL QB.

Via Dov Kleiman, Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network recently reported that Sanders said his quarterback style and skill set are similar to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith.

Last year, Sanders threw 27 touchdown passes and just three interceptions in his first season with the Buffaloes after throwing 70 TD passes and 14 interceptions in two seasons under his father at Jackson State.

This is a pivotal year for Shedeur Sanders as he looks to solidify his stock ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, where he could find himself in the mix for being the No. 1 overall pick.

Smith is an apt comparison for Shedeur Sanders, as in 2022 Smith completed 69.8 percent of his passes, a similar number to what Sanders has posted in his college career.

Both are adept pocket passers who know how to protect the ball and exhibit a little escapability when they have to, though it’s not a primary part of their games.

Smith took nearly a decade to secure a full-time starting gig in the NFL, and Shedeur Sanders will surely hope not to wait quite as long after he gets drafted next year.
