The vast majority of baseball players in MLB make most of their money via their salary.
The same can’t necessarily be said about minor leaguers because they often have side jobs, especially those in the lower levels.
There is one major leaguer, however, that doesn’t have baseball as his main source of income.
At least not in 2023.
Who is he?
Well, if you guessed Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani, then you are right!
“MLB players expecting the most money from endorsements in 2023 (reported by Forbes): Shohei Ohtani, $35,000,000 <— not a typo! Aaron Judge, $4,500,000; Mike Trout, $4,000,000,” Codify Baseball tweeted.

The Angels are paying Ohtani a whopping $30 million salary this year, his last of arbitration eligibility.
He will test the free agent waters after the World Series and figures to sign, at the very least, a $500 million contract.
For 2023, he is making more in endorsements than he will with baseball.
He is slated to collect a nice $35 million in endorsement deals with an army of brands, in all fields.
Ohtani’s exorbitant endorsement deals shed light into the rest of the stars’ numbers.
Judge and Trout are at the top of their fields, yet they make only a small fraction of what Ohtani does on endorsements.
This goes to show that the league still can do a better job marketing its stars, beyond Ohtani of course.
He is in a class of his own.
Of course, he is unique in every way: he can pitch and hit like a true star, he is a winner, competitive, marketable, with good looks and a big smile.
It’s fair to say finances aren’t a problem area for the Angels star.
