Fate is an incredible thing.

It insists in putting Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani in the same sentence.

Both men were in every MVP discussion last year, when the New York Yankees star ended up taking home the award.

This time, they will be on the same field.

The Los Angeles Angels and the Yankees will start a three-game set on Tuesday, at Yankee Stadium.

Speaking of fate, it’s only fitting that Ohtani will be visiting The House That Ruth Built.

Well, it’s not technically the same (that’s what the original Yankee Stadium was called), but he will try to hit a home run or two on this special day.

Why is it special?

“100 years ago today, Babe Ruth hit the 1st home run in Yankee Stadium history. Today Shohei Ohtani, the greatest two-way player since the Sultan of Swat, takes center stage in the Bronx against @TheJudge44 & the @Yankees,” MLB Network wrote.

There you have it: the original Yankee Stadium opened on this day, 100 years ago, and Ruth went yard.

Ruth could pitch and hit like nobody in the history of the game could…until Ohtani.

The Japanese star has reached an incredible level in both activities.

He currently boasts a 0.47 ERA on the mound, and has an .876 OPS at the plate.

He is the most complete player in the history of baseball, being capable of hitting like a middle-of-the-order slugger, pitching like an ace, and stealing bases, all with a gigantic smile on his face.

Today will be a special day for those in attendance in New York.
