The 2023-24 NBA regular season is coming to an end, with most teams in the league having about five or more games left on their schedule, which means this final stretch will be crucial to where the Los Angeles Lakers land in the Western Conference standings.
Currently, the Lakers are stuck in the Play-In Tournament along with the New Orleans Pelicans, Golden State Warriors, and Sacramento Kings, but things change on a daily basis with the Phoenix Suns potentially switching places with the Pelicans or Kings.
With the Lakers more than likely remaining in the Play-In Tournament, they’ll have to work their way into the NBA playoffs once again, but the team has been rolling as of late with eight wins in their last 10 games.
Even though the Lakers have come on strong and seem to be shifting into playoff mode, Skip Bayless of FOX Sports can’t help but think that superstar forward LeBron James is preparing his excuses in the event that Los Angeles falls early in the postseason.
“He is brilliantly planting another excuse for the postseason just in case he flames out,” Bayless said on his podcast, referencing James playing heavy minutes at the end of the regular season.

No analyst has had more of an axe to grind with James than Bayless over the years, as he always seems to find a way to downplay what the superstar has accomplished or what he may be on the verge of accomplishing.
This year is no different, as he seems to feel that James will blame the heavy minutes he’s played this year as an excuse for the Lakers failing to live up to expectations in the postseason.
