Recent rumors have said Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks is on the radar of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Will the purple and gold target Young in the upcoming season and make him their new point guard?

Skip Bayless doesn’t think that’s a good idea.

Speaking on “Undisputed” courtesy of ClutchPoints, Bayless said that Young simply doesn’t make sense with the Lakers.

Bayless claims that Young has a lack of size and is a mess when it comes to turnovers and three-point attempts.

While he admits that Young is a good passer, that talent is made redundant by the skills of LeBron James.

“I would not want him on my basketball team… They call him ‘Ice Trae’ and I call him ‘Mice Trae’ because he’s so little… It’s a bad combination, it’s like [Russell] Westbrook.”

So, what would Young bring to the Lakers?

According to Bayless, the player would provide a lot of star power for Los Angeles but not much else.

Bayless is saying what some Lakers fans are thinking.

Although he averaged 26.2 points per game last season, he also created 4.1 turnovers and only shot 33.5% from beyond the three-point line.

His 10.2 assists a game are certainly impressive but is that enough?

A player of Young’s prominence would require a lot of money and that would take away LA’s spending power with others.

They would have to make a big commitment.

After the fiasco surrounding Russell Westbrook over the last few seasons, the Lakers might be very hesitant to get into a similar situation with Young.

Throughout history, the Lakers have been attached to countless big names in hypothetical trades that never materialized.

Is that happening here?

Or are the Lakers really serious about Young and envisioning him as the future of the team?
