The Los Angeles Lakers have looked completely discombobulated since winning the NBA In-Season Tournament and things went from bad to worse after a rough loss to the Memphis Grizzlies at home.
The Lakers have a home-heavy schedule in the month of January, but so far they’ve lost to the Miami Heat and Grizzlies.
Los Angeles came into the 2023-24 NBA season as expected contenders, but now the question is whether or not they’ll even make the playoffs.
Unfair or not, most of the blame has come down on head coach Darvin Ham who already has had to address reports about his job security.
Meanwhile, LeBron James was clearly frustrated after the loss to Memphis and seemed to call out that the team needs some sort of change.
Firing the head coach is normally the first move a team makes during a rough patch, and Skip Bayless thinks that James should try to coach the team in Ham’s place via his personal Twitter account.
LeBron obviously is having issues with Darvin Ham. SOMEbody has to be blamed for this. So seriously, why doesn’t LeBron do what the great Bill Russell did – play AND coach? LBJ would be great at that … but then he’d have only himself to blame.

It feels like Bayless is being a little facetious with the suggestion given that no player is currently handling both coaching and playing.
James certainly has the basketball IQ and gravitas to lead a team, but there’s no sort of inclination that he’d be interested in a dual-type role.
However, James’ recent comments will surely spark some sort of action from the front office as everyone tries to salvage this season.
