The NBA offseason has been full of trades and interesting free-agent signings.

Many teams made improvements and the league is looking very competitive heading into next year.

One player who once again wanted to take over the headlines is Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James.

He made an interesting career announcement regarding the jersey number he will be wearing.

James announced that he will change back to number 23 next season.

Skip Bayless thinks James is doing so to establish himself as the basketball GOAT.

I believe LeBron will change back to No. 23 for 2 reasons: 1) to honor Bill Russell and 2) to resend the absurd message he’s now, as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, the GOAT, better than Jordan. Only fools believe that. LeBron James wearing 23 is a disgrace.

Bayless mentioned that now that James is the all-time leading scorer he wants to take back number 23.

Michael Jordan also wore 23 and James may want to establish himself as the best to wear that number.

But those who know Bayless are aware that he criticizes James for just about everything.

While the number he wears will have a limited impact on James’ legacy, winning another championship would have the opposite effect.

James is entering his age-39 season and time is running out for him to win another title.

Last season the Lakers made the Western Conference Finals but got swept.

Now it appears LA is looking to run it back with a similar roster they had last year.

If James can stay healthy the Lakers have as good of a chance as anyone to win the West.

LeBron has not played more than 56 games in any of the past three seasons.

His health will be a direct correlation to his team’s success.
