Although we don’t yet know how the season will end for the Los Angeles Lakers, the turnaround they have achieved is quite exciting.
Since the February NBA trade deadline, the Lakers have looked like a much younger, enthusiastic, and capable team.
Many factors were at play for the changes the Lakers experienced, but one of the biggest was General Manager Rob Pelinka.
Pelinka has suffered the wrath of nasty headlines and angry fans for years now but NBA analyst Skip Bayless had very kind words for him on Monday morning’s episode of Undisputed.
Bayless noted all of the young talent that Pelinka brought to the team – as well as the deals that gave away both Patrick Beverley and Russell Westbrook – and said that he should win Executive of the Year.

Bayless said that LeBron James is still the “sun” at the center of the Lakers’ universe and what Pelinka has done has given him a bunch of up-and-coming players to work with.
He was particularly fond of Rui Hachimura, who was terrific in Sunday night’s win over the Houston Rockets, going for 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Bayless said that Hachimura will “give you every ounce he’s got.”
Pelinka has certainly given fans a lot to smile about over the last couple of months.
There was a point this season when it felt like all was lost and followers of the team were hanging their heads low.
The Lakers are still not where fans want them to be but the fact that they are now fighting for the fifth spot in the West is a remarkable feat for a team that started with a 2-10 record.
Pelinka is receiving a lot of accolades and praise because of his hard work, even from those who lambasted him for years.
