The Minnesota Timberwolves have to be thrilled from what they’ve seen from Anthony Edwards so far during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Edwards had a strong 2023 FIBA World Cup as the team’s No. 1 scoring option, but he’s adjusted well to coming off the bench in France.

The young superstar has been an offensive spark that’s been able to jumpstart Team USA any time it falls into a scoring lull.

The perfect example of Edwards’ talent came in the Americans’ latest win against Puerto Rico when he caught fire from the field in the second half.

Edwards dropped a game-high 26 points on efficient 11-of-15 shooting from the field.

That performance prompted Skip Bayless to declare him a strong contender for Olympic MVP.

“The youngest player on an aging Team USA is starting to make his case for Olympic MVP. Move over, LeBron and KD, for Anthony Edwards,” Bayless tweeted.

LeBron James and Kevin Durant represent the old guard for Team USA, while Edwards is the clear leader for the future, and so far he’s answered the call.

It’s too early to crown Edwards the MVP with the medal rounds still to come, though it’s hard to blame Bayless for his statement because the star guard has been consistent throughout.

Team USA will be in line for some tough challenges in the coming games as they’ll face stiffer competition, and Edwards will be counted on to help it get over the hump and bring back the gold medal.
