The Milwaukee Bucks made a statement in Game 1.
Despite being one-point underdogs at some point before tip-off, Doc Rivers’ team was up to the task and dominated the Indiana Pacers from start to finish.
Notably, that had a lot to do with Damian Lillard, who was a human wrecking ball in the first half.
However, it was a tale of two halves with Lillard in the game, as he didn’t score a single point in the final two-quarters of the game.
That’s why sports analyst Skip Bayless didn’t know what to make of his performance, and he took to Twitter to talk about how he was able to put up 35 points in the first half and then go scoreless in the second.
What a weird game for Damian Lillard – who can be great when expectations are lowest. 35 in the first half when Indiana was expected roll with Giannis out … no points in the second as the Pacers outplayed the Bucks.

Truth be told, context matters, and the fact of the matter is that Lillard didn’t need to be as aggressive in the second half after going up by 30+ in the first two-quarters.
He exploded for 35 points and six three-pointers, and the Bucks’ defense on Tyrese Haliburton was simply stellar.
The Bucks took their foot off the gas in the second half and relaxed quite a bit, but it’s not like they were ever in actual danger of letting the game slip away.
Lillard has a knack for proving people wrong and stepping up when his team needs him the most, so this was far from a surprise.
Now, it’ll be about keeping that pace up and replicating that performance in the following games of the series.
