Skip Bayless Reacts To Hawks Winning NBA Draft Lottery

On Sunday, the Atlanta Hawks came out on top in the NBA Draft Lottery, which was a surprising result, with the Detroit Pistons having much better odds of getting the top pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Coming into the draft lottery, the Hawks had only a 3% chance of landing the top pick in the draft, but obviously, that was enough to get the No. 1 overall selection, which bodes well for Atlanta’s offseason after another disappointing season.

Along with all the trade rumors surrounding star point guard Trae Young, who many believe will be playing for a different team by the time next season starts later this year, the Hawks now have another trade piece at their disposal unless they really like a prospect in this draft class.

After the Hawks won the draft lottery on Sunday, Skip Bayless of FOX Sports took to Twitter to somewhat congratulate Atlanta but also point out that the team is one year too late because the San Antonio Spurs struck gold with Victor Wembanyama last year.

Congrats (I guess) to the Atlanta Hawks for beating the odds and hitting the draft lottery … but they’re obviously a year late to be able to take THE French big man.

Ironically enough, the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft could also be a player from overseas from France, with center Alex Sarr being at the top of some NBA mock drafts.

Unlike like last year with Wembanyama and Brandon Miller, there are no clear stars or substantial game-changers in this draft, which could lead to the Hawks trading the top pick rather than bringing in a top prospect.

It’ll be interesting to see how things develop now that the Hawks have the top pick.
