After making easy work of Puerto Rico over the weekend and officially advancing out of the Group stage, Team USA got back to work on Tuesday in the quarter-finals, going head-to-head against Brazil in Paris, France.
The 2024 Olympics has been an easy ride for the Americans thus far in the five-on-five basketball category, as LeBron James and company have dominated the competition, which continued on Tuesday with a big 35-point win over the Brazilians in order to advance to the semi-finals where they will take on Nikola Jokic’s Serbian squad.
With Serbia the only team standing in their way of making it to the gold medal game to face the winner of France vs. Germany in the semi-finals, Team USA could very easily cruise to a gold medal, as they are clearly the best team left in the tournament and it might not be even close.
While crushing Brazil on Tuesday, James suffered a little injury scare as he was hit on the face during a play, resulting in him being on the floor for a couple of minutes before heading into the locker room to get checked out.
After coming out of the locker room as if nothing happened, James sat down on the bench and crowned himself as he usually does, which seemed to get Skip Bayless of FOX Sports giddy with joy that he could take some shots at the NBA legend.

Even though Bayless will take shots at James one way or the other, as he’s always trying to work angles to tear down the future Hall of Famer, the fact remains that he’ll likely win MVP of this tournament and win another gold medal.
It will be a speedy turnaround for Team USA, as they will face Serbia on Thursday to determine who goes to the gold medal game on August 10.
